2006-10-16 VERY ODD BUSINESS, POLITICS16 October 2006: The PM's political secretary John McTernan has sent out a briefing note to Labour MPs. In it, George Galloway is quoted praising David Cameron as "pretty impressive". Galloway also says: ""Looked at objectively, I would have to say I can see his appeal. It will play - it is playing right now."Question: Why is the PM's inner circle quoting a Labour renegade's favourable remarks on the subject of the Tory leadership? We know that the Prime Minister has been privately running down Gordon as "not a leader"; and here, conversely, he is building Cameron up. Just thought you might be interested. |
